"If you wish to be a writer, write." - Epictetus ...The concept of this meetup is simple: meet up with others in a cafe ...and write. Carve out one sacred hour per week to bring your project to life. Working in the company of other creative writers will provide you with the motivation you need to move forward and write that story, novel, or chapbook of poems you have inside you. Our group is about creative companionship...no critiquing, exercises, lectures, ego, competition or feeling guilty. …

This group is for authors who are interested in mastering the craft elements of writing. Each meeting will be devoted to a specific craft element related to character, plot, point of view, description, dialogue, setting, pace, voice, and theme. Whether you seek to write short stories, essays, novels or articles, the club members (as a team) will help each other to ma …

When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing. I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in gener …
This will be a group for people who enjoy writing but need a little push from others to stop procrastinating. There are groups like this in other areas around New York, but non located in Nassau County. The only requirement is a commitment to your craft at whatever level you currently on . We will meet once week or bi monthly depending on the ability of the members of the group to make a serious commitment to that time period. Lets get to know each other, what we think, what we do, and of course …

An ongoing group of writers that meets every Monday night at a restaurant in White Plains. Two people submit every week and the group reviews their work and discusses it at the meeting. Meetings are usually two hours. A writer will on average submit once a month. Before being admitted to the group, we require a writing sample. Any representative work will be fine. It doesn't have to be long.

This group is aimed at writers in Suffolk County who are looking for a group to work on their current projects and work toward publishing. We'll meet once a month at a place of our choosing (I had been thinking of the Starbucks up on Middle Country Road, Johnny's, or maybe the Ecology Park in good weather) for a few hours and work through our projects. We can discuss the progress on our pieces, read work aloud for critiques, and give each other life support during the querying process (I warn yo …

The Stratford Scribes is a group of Fairfield County writers serious about the creation and publication of their craft. The group meets in Stratford, Ct. and owes a philosophical debt to Roberto Calas for both the tone and format of the meetup. We are a group of writers committed to pushing each other to achieve the writing life (and audience) to which we aspire.

Writers mostly write. Besides writing, the second most important act is submitting. I'd like to meet once a month with a group of writers who are submitting their work. During this meeting we can exchange ideas about motivation, where to submit certain kinds of work and the mechanics of submitting material. We can map out strategies for submitting work and make committments to the group about the process.

Originally started as a critique group in 2009 it has grown into more than that. We do not believe in writing by committee but we do believe a group of individuals that are dedicated to challenging each other and working collaboratively will produce better fiction than each of us would do on our own. We meet on Thursday nights in Sandy Hook, typically, and occasionally on weekends. We are looking for fiction writers who are serious about their craft. You don't need a ton of experience, but you d …

I love to write. I know there are other people who love to write along the shoreline area too. Let's get together to explore our creative souls and support each other through this sometimes lonely process. All skill levels are welcome. Please bring enough copies to share with the group. I am looking forward to meeting new writers and learning about their creative methods.
Typically we meet every two weeks to work and support each other. Though we occasionally post online, this is a face-to-face meetup group. This group is for any of these and more: If you're working on a piece, we'll help you with ideas and your writing process. If you're blocked or are having trouble writing, we'll work on what's getting in the way. If you've written and want to get published, we'll find out what the next step is (including self publishing). We'll talk about - who your favorit …

This group offers a forum for writers to learn and exchange practical information they need to get published. Members gather to ask questions and give advice about every stage of the publishing process, from writing a manuscript to querying an agent to negotiating a contract. While there are many groups for writers out there, most focus exclusively on the craft of writing, while failing to address the practical information that publishers really care about and that can make or break a book deal. …

This is a workshop for a group of Long Island fiction writers, who get together once-a-month to critique each others work. Essentially, we discuss what we like about a piece, and what we think can be improved. The emphasis is on nurture: how one writer can help another via thoughtful comments and suggestions. Everyone's manuscripts (2,500 words max) are traded via email one week prior to the meeting, then printed out and "marked up" with comments and suggestions. If you're a fiction writer on Lo …
