Interested in being published? Come to the Motorcycle High book event at Barnes & Noble, Creekwalk, Plano, on Feb. 9, 2013 from 3-5. Author Dave Harrold will discuss how he wrote his novel based on his real-life world motorcycle riding adventures. Writers and readers of any genre, but fantasy and science fiction in particular, getting together on a weekly(or bi-weekly) basis to discuss their projects. Let's get together and offer encouragement and advice over coffee or cocktails. Whether you need a sounding board for you ideas, or just someone to motivate you to keep writing, this is the group for you. And if you don't write, but would love to be an alpha reader and someone to bounce ideas off, you are welcome too. All are welcome, but me …
This group centers around a fun writing exercise. To create Fast and Furious fiction based on a single inspirational sentence or excerpt from a newspaper, magazine or tabloid publication. I'll bring the pub, the group chooses the starter and we write for 30-45 minutes (tbd per meeting). Once we "put down our pencils" you can sit back and listen or share what you wrote. Depending on the size of the group and the venue we will read our mini masterpieces aloud or play musical laptops until everyone …

This writers group will be made up of amateur to professional writers who will learn from each other and progress together. I hope to set up a mentor program and start groups according to genre and ability. We welcome all mediums, including poetry, fiction, script/screen plays, science fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction. Some meetings will just feature a safe place to relax and write, and some will be set up for critiques, brain-storms, and workshops. I want to offer a unique experience of friend …

Laid-back group, meeting once a month to discuss all things writing, publishing, and writing-related. Writing can be a solitary profession and obsession, and it helps to know others who love the written word just as much as you do. Anyone with a love of the written word is welcome.
A circle where womyn writers of all ages, levels, and genres may practice, explore, and discuss the written & spoken-word arts and where womyn are empowered to give sound to our story and volume to our voice!
This group is for people interested in writing character-driven screenplays with strong narrative values. A screenplay isn't a novel, and it's not a film. It's a tool to get a critical mass of professionals together to make a film. The stronger the story and the more human the characters, the better the screenplay. Classic narrative structure will be encouraged as a respectful basis for script critique, as will analysis of classic and current films and scripts for technique. All genres welcome!

I decided to join a book club due to a personal love of books, studying fiction, and always listening to others opinions of fiction to better learn from their perspective. Having taken many hours in Creative Writing and English in college from many published authors I feel I have a great vision of what makes a great atmosphere for learning and discussion in Fiction. The purpose is that of open discussion on short stories and novels most likely at the start being 20-21st American writers but I am …
The Dallas Designers Group is focused specifically playtesting unpublished, unpolished, and prototype board/card games. Have a great game idea and need to get a variety of feedback? This is the place! The DDG is an open, friendly place for designers to test their work while trying others! Since group meetings are primarily attended by designers who want to test their games, we balance being a host and being a tester with a concept called Playtest Points. Each time you playtest someone's game …

NOTE: The founding date on this page shows 2008. This group was actually started in March 2013 using an old groups page. There is no way in Meetup.com to change the date if you change the original groups name. It has been said that, "Those who fail to learn from History are condemned to repeat it". That is so true. I have always had a love of History and after getting hooked on http://www.ancestry.com/ last summer, that love has turned into a bit of an obsession. My dream is to write a best se …

This group is for anyone who loves happily ever afters (with a whole lot of struggle). The books that warm our hearts and burn our panties. This group is to know there are more authors than the ones on the New York Times best sellers listing. Me personally, I'm tired of not having friends that read. I'd like to meet people who read what I do and are willing to share their thoughs and offer suggestions to new authors, fictional boyfriends and all around great love story.
